Description
Frank Kitts Park was one of the first areas of the waterfront to be developed as public space, and it is due for a redesign in the next couple of years. Part of this is a proposal for a pedestrian bridge or plaza from the Willeston/Victoria St carpark across Jervois Quay to the southern end of the Events Centre.
The Chinese Garden, which had been intended to be located at Site 4 of Waitangi Park, may be built here instead. The change was suggested by the Chinese Garden community, prompted by the fact that the building at Site 4 may take several years to find funding, leaving that site in limbo. No detailed plans have been produced for the relocated park, but the most likely location would be the roadside section where the mini-bungy is currently housed.
A breakwater is also being considered, but won't be pursued until after the other developments.

A nice wee playground here - good climbing equipment/slides etc for the littlies, swings, and a rather large tower slide for the older kids. There's also usually an icecream van that also does coffees parked here on weekends (note also that there's a cafe, Kaffee Eis, at the other end of the park).
