A spectacular fiord within the World Heritage Fiordland National Park. Daily coach tours leave from Queenstown and Te Anau or you can drive yourself. The town and airstrip are at the head of the fiord; its water-falled majesty can be seen on a cruise or from the air, weather conditions permitting. At Harrisons's Cove there is a deep underwater observatory which can be reached on a cruise or by shuttle. Bowen Falls are a short (30 minutes, return) walk from the town. Beautiful scenery, long drive in along a pretty amazing road. We stayed at the lodge and it was very pleasant. Lost my watch while swimming in the freezing cold water though. I liked that watch. :(
