In 1938, I used walk each Saturday morning at 6am to Buchanan's Bakery, from Rose Rd in Grey Lynn to deliver bread, as a 10yr old helper on a horse and cart. There was not the traffic there is now days? I also recall Mennies biscuit factory and a pillow slip of broken biscuits could be bought for 1 shilling (10c)

Kingsland is the new Ponsonby. Apparently Onehunga is the new Kingsland. Not sure of the truth of this, but Kingsland is a great place to live. Lots of cafes and bars. A pub. An internation sporting venue. What more could you want? Throw in Auckland's most modern train station and most pointless elevator and you have first class amenities as well.
