Our family all grew up in Mornington, including my father, who was the local barber for many years. He and his brother both attended Mornington School around the turn of the century.
The photo of the Maryhill Extension cable car is of a painting by Don McAra, and shows on the right of the tramline a great assortment of Mornington houses.
stanjnz says about Whitecliffs
Whitecliffs and South Malvern are essentially the same village, with the following qualifications.
Sth Malvern Station was the 2nd last stop on the Darfield-Whitecliffs line.
South Malvern School, now the Ron Armstrong Lodge, is situated between S/M and W. stations. The name Whitecliffs is more often used for the whole district, and the South Malvern Cricket Club was always based at Glentunnel, the third last train stop. The wider area Malvern was a County Council area, and included Hororata, Darfield, Windwhistle & others.
