Haha, cool story. The bluenote, you'll be sad to hear, has gone now, replaced with 'the fringe' I think. It's still a bar though, and they probably still do karoake.
My memory of this place is doing sunday night karoake with my gf of the time and her friends, before I moved to Germany.
